Your Student Assembly unanimously passed the Potentially Necessary eBallot Upgrade Act, the Financial Transparency Act and the Necessary Airport Shuttle Funding Act II during Tuesday night’s meeting.

The eBallot Upgrade Act does nothing to upgrade our voting system, but instead allocates $400 from the off-campus account to pay for the e-mails that will be sent to every student for the Spring SA elections giving them a randomized password allowing them to log on to the eBallot site.

Your Student Assembly passed the Get with the Times Act and the Defense of Free Speech Act during last Tuesday’s meeting, which saw the always affectionate Mark Constantine in attendance.

The Get with the Times Act allocates $4,250 for the purchase of 200 copies of The New York Times to be delivered to campus daily for 40 academic days at $0.50 each. While this bill is said to be at the request of students and is relatively inexpensive considering what an individual print copy of the paper costs, it is still wasteful and unnecessary.

Your Student Assembly unanimously passed the Consolidated Reserve Interest Act during Tuesday night’s meeting. The bill endorses the writing of a letter to College President Taylor Reveley and the Board of Visitors encouraging them to place the approximate $9,100 in interest that the Consolidated Reserve accrues every year into the “Save a Professor” fund instead of the unrestricted BOV-controlled slush fund where the interest currently goes. Though I would be shocked if the administration even takes the time to read this letter, this is a great bill.
