    It started with the Tribe down six, a minute left in the half.

    “We believe. We believe,” the alumni chanted, and soon the students joined in. Half of Richmond Coliseum united behind the Tribe, trying to conjure up an NCAA tournament berth, as if through pure belief.

    Belief is hard. Belief requires your heart to commit to something your head recognizes as illogical. And belief unfulfilled hurts.

    One of the few niceties about being a Tribe fan over the years was the lack of belief required.

    Before the 2009-2010 season is even completed, William and Mary’s 22 wins and elevated national profile are already paying off. Awaiting a likely NIT bid, the second in school history, to be announced Sunday evening, the Tribe accepted an offer Wednesday to appear in the 2010 Legends Classic preseason tournament, taking place in late November.

    The event will see the College journey to take on Syracuse, Michigan, Georgia Tech or UTEP in the opening round, before hosting a two-day subregional round.

    Not surprisingly, That Flat Hat was not the only news source covering Sunday night’s affair between William and Mary and Northeastern. After the 47-45 victory, here is a taste of what other observers had to offer.
